AAFS is a First Nations child and family services agency serving First Nations across Treaty 3. We support children, youth, families and caregivers. Our teams work in the communities we serve.

If you believe a child is being harmed or neglected, you can speak with an intake worker. You do not have to be certain, and you do not have to give your name.

Help with parenting, housing, mental wellness, addictions, kinship care, or a child returning home. You do not need to be in crisis to reach out.

02Who we serve
First Nations across Treaty 3 territory.
Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services serves First Nations across Treaty 3 territory. Each community has its own team, its own way of working, and its own relationship with the families who live there.

When you call, a worker will listen and help you decide what to do next.

You talk to a worker
A person answers, listens, and writes down only what is needed. You can bring a family member, an Elder or a support person.

We look at it together
We tell you plainly what we can and cannot do, what happens next, and how long it usually takes.

Your community stays involved
Wherever a child's care is involved, family, First Nation and cultural connection are part of the plan from the first conversation.
Calling us does not mean a child will be removed. Most of our work is helping families stay together.

Family wellbeing
In-home support, parenting circles and practical day-to-day support so families can stay together.
Children in care
Kinship and customary care, placement with family wherever possible, and a plan for every child to come home.
Youth and transition
Support for young people leaving care, including housing, education and community connection.
Cultural connection
Cultural programming and Elder support are part of the services offered. Approved wording to be supplied by AAFS.
Mental wellness
Mental wellness support coordinated with community health teams.
Prevention
Early support before a family reaches crisis, delivered by workers who live in and know the community.

AAFS works with families, Elders and community members across Treaty 3.
Cultural connection is part of how services are delivered. Elders and community members guide practice, and family and First Nation are involved in planning for a child. The wording of this section will be written and approved by AAFS.

We start with a searchable list because it is faster on a phone, works on slow connections, is easier to keep accurate, and does not display boundaries that have not been confirmed. A map can be added later using approved geographic information.
